Airbnb Restocking Checklist: What to Refill After Every Guest

Diana MuturiaSeptember 30, 2026

After every Airbnb guest, restock the essentials first (toilet paper, hand and body soap, a towel and pillow per guest and clean linen on every bed), then top up the bathroom, kitchen and comfort items you list in your amenities. The simplest way to keep it consistent is to set a minimum level for each item, have your cleaner top up to that level at every turnover and reorder from your owner's closet when stock runs low.

Running out of toilet paper is a small thing that feels like a big thing to a guest. It tells them nobody checked. A clear restocking list, with numbers instead of "enough", is what stops that from happening.

Start with the essentials

Airbnb defines a set of essential amenities: toilet paper, soap for hands and body, one towel per guest, one pillow per guest and linens for each guest bed. If your listing says you provide them, they need to be there at every check in. These go at the top of your checklist.

Beyond that, anything you list as an amenity in your listing is a promise. If your listing says coffee, there should be coffee. Review your listed amenities once a season and make sure your restocking list matches them. Airbnb has more on confirming amenities.

Set minimum levels, not "refill as needed"

"Refill as needed" means something different to every cleaner. A minimum level removes the guesswork. The rule is: at every turnover, bring each item up to its minimum.

Here is how to set yours:

  1. Base it on your maximum guest count and typical stay length. A home that sleeps six for a week uses far more than a studio for two nights.
  2. Write the number down. "Four rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, plus two under the sink."
  3. Take a photo of the fully stocked shelf or drawer. A picture is faster to match than a list.
  4. Adjust after a month. If your cleaner is always refilling the same item to zero, raise the level.

Room by room restocking checklist

Use the levels below as a template and replace them with your own numbers.

Bathroom

  • Toilet paper on the holder plus spare rolls (set a number per bathroom)
  • Hand soap at the sink, full or nearly full
  • Body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the shower
  • Clean towel set per guest (bath, hand, washcloth)
  • Bath mat
  • Tissues
  • Trash bags in the bin plus spares
  • Hair dryer present and working
  • Optional: cotton pads, makeup wipes, spare toothbrushes, feminine products

Kitchen

  • Dish soap
  • Dishwasher tablets or detergent
  • New sponge or scrubber
  • Paper towels
  • Trash and recycling bags
  • Coffee, filters or pods if you list coffee
  • Tea, sugar and creamer if you offer them
  • Salt, pepper and cooking oil
  • Clean dish towels
  • Check for guest leftovers in the fridge and freezer

Bedrooms

  • Clean linen on every bed
  • One pillow per guest at minimum
  • Extra blanket in the closet
  • Hangers
  • Working lamps and charging cables if you provide them

Living areas and general

  • Remote batteries tested
  • WiFi card and house manual in place
  • Light bulbs all working
  • Spare batteries in the owner's closet

Laundry and cleaning, if guests use them

  • Laundry detergent for guest use
  • Broom, mop or handheld vacuum for small spills

Outdoor

  • Grill fuel or propane level checked
  • Pool or beach towels
  • Outdoor trash bags

Items you do not refill every time

Some items last several stays. Put these on a weekly or monthly check instead:

ItemHow often to check
Smoke and carbon monoxide alarmsFollow the manufacturer's test schedule
Fire extinguisherMonthly look at the gauge
First aid kitMonthly
Light bulbs and batteriesEvery turnover glance, replace as needed
Pantry basics like oil and spicesCheck dates regularly
Mattress protectorsChange when soiled, inspect monthly

The reorder system

Restocking at the turnover only works if the owner's closet has stock to pull from. A simple reorder routine keeps it full.

  1. Keep backup stock onsite in a locked closet. See how to set up an owner's closet for your Airbnb.
  2. Set a reorder point for each item, for example "reorder when fewer than two packs remain."
  3. Have your cleaner report low items at the end of every turnover, in the same place every time.
  4. Use recurring deliveries for the fast movers like toilet paper, trash bags and dish tablets.
  5. Check the count monthly against what you ordered, so you notice if supplies are disappearing faster than guests use them.

Pay your cleaner for restocking time

Restocking takes real time: counting, carrying, refilling and reporting. If you pay per turnover, make sure the rate reflects it. If you pay hourly, expect the turnover to take longer in homes with lots of amenities. See how much to pay an Airbnb cleaner.

Checking that restocking happened

Restocking is easy to skip on a rushed day and hard to confirm from a distance. You usually find out when a guest messages that they are out of something.

Clyn makes this part visible. Your cleaner takes photos in the Clyn app of the stocked bathroom, kitchen and beds before leaving, and the AI checks them against your property's standard. An empty soap dispenser or a missing towel stack gets flagged while the cleaner is still there. You get a pass or a fix list, plus a dated photo record of how the home was left.

FAQ

What should I restock after every Airbnb guest?

At minimum the essentials: toilet paper, hand and body soap, a towel and pillow per guest and clean linen on every bed. Then top up everything you list as an amenity, such as coffee, dish soap and paper towels.

How much toilet paper should an Airbnb have?

Set a per bathroom minimum based on your maximum guest count and typical stay length, with spares in a visible spot. Adjust after a month of real use.

Who should pay for restocking supplies?

The host usually buys supplies and stores them onsite, and the cleaner restocks from that stock. Agree on this in writing before the first turnover.
