It began with an immigrant who saw a problem that had to be solved.
At 18, Diana Muturia moved to the US to study engineering, only to lose her scholarships in her final year due to bias. Her math advisor told her she “doesn’t seem to look like an engineer.” As a homeless dropout and far from home, she took up cleaning jobs, and connected with other cleaners facing similar challenges.
This experience inspired her to create Clyn. After four failed attempts using contractors, Diana taught herself to code during the pandemic and built the first working app.
She and her team since then have successfully launched multiple versions of the app, and gaining a user base that has quickly grown.
Contrary to her former advisor's opinion, Diana proved she's not just someone who "looks like" an engineer—she is one.
